What your membership includes
- Primary care visits: Unlimited medically necessary office visits during regular walk-in hours.
- Selected routine laboratory tests: CBC, comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP), lipid panel, hemoglobin A1c, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and urinalysis, when medically necessary and ordered by a MedFast provider through MedFast’s designated laboratory arrangements.
- Basic in-house X-rays: When medically necessary, ordered by a MedFast provider, and performed at MedFast.
Included services are determined by clinical medical necessity; membership does not provide unlimited testing upon request. Services are subject to availability and the signed membership agreement.
What is not included
- Prescription medications and pharmacy charges.
- Emergency department care, ambulance transportation, hospitalization, surgery, and specialist services.
- CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, advanced imaging, and tests or imaging performed at outside facilities.
- Other services, testing, or treatments not expressly included in the membership agreement.
Important: MedFast does not pay or reimburse charges from outside providers or facilities. A referral or outside order does not make an outside service part of your DPC membership.
DPC is not health insurance
Your MedFast DPC membership helps cover routine primary care, but unexpected medical expenses can happen. We encourage you to consider additional health insurance coverage, such as an appropriate major medical or high-deductible plan, to help protect you financially if you need emergency treatment, hospitalization, surgery, specialist care, or expensive testing such as an MRI or CT scan. Catastrophic plans may be an option for people who qualify. Insurance is not required to participate in our DPC program. We simply encourage patients to consider coverage that fits their needs and budget. DPC itself is not health insurance.
How membership works
- Walk in for covered, medically necessary primary care services during MedFast’s regular office hours.
- Membership fees are paid monthly, with regular billing on the first of each month.
- Membership and cancellation terms, including the initial three-month membership period, are explained in the written agreement.
- Members who obtain other insurance may keep their DPC membership or notify MedFast promptly to request cancellation effective at the end of the current month.
